Wells Fargo presents this year’s Holiday Lights Family Festival, offering the community an opportunity to experience many of Omaha’s leading downtown attractions for free. This year’s Family Festival will be held Sunday, December 2, from noon to 5 p.m. A free trolley service will connect the participating venues described below. Each site will offer free admission and family activities. In addition, select Omaha musicians will perform at The Durham Museum, W. Dale Clark Public Library, the Wells Fargo Bank downtown branch and Joslyn Art Museum.

Wells Fargo, 20th and Douglas Streets
Take part in a winter wonderland at the Wells Fargo bank location on 20th and Douglas Streets. Enjoy Orville Redenbacher popcorn courtesy of ConAgra Foods. Children can pose for a picture with the company’s very own “Jack the Dog” and make fun holiday crafts. Enjoy holiday music by Been There at 12:30 p.m. and SNJ Studio Singers at 1:30 p.m. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn about Wells Fargo history- stop by the company museum and see the historically accurate reproduction of the Wells Fargo Stagecoach in the lobby before you jet off to the Mounted Patrol Barn and enjoy your very own ride!

Omaha Children’s Museum, 500 South 20th Street
Families and children will be able to engage in active play in the museum’s permanent exhibits, and will be able to visit the museum’s temporary exhibit Itty Bitty City for a discounted admission price of $3. They can also ride the carousel for $2. Children will be able to visit with Santa in the Theater area from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wells Fargo will also be hosting fun crafts in the Creative Arts Area. And you won’t want to miss out on the Super Snowy Science Show free of charge in the Science Lab.

Omaha Police Mounted Patrol Barn, 615 Leavenworth Street
Tour the stables and visit with Santa’s reindeer! Learn how police officers care for the animals at the Mounted Patrol Barn and get your picture taken with the horses and reindeer. Officers will offer horse demonstrations as guests warm up with Swiss Miss hot cocoa courtesy of ConAgra Foods. Decorate your very own cowboy hat courtesy of Wells Fargo! Among the other activities offered at the Patrol Barn, you won’t want to miss one of the most talented balloon artists in the Midwest, Poppin’ Penelope! The Omaha Citizens Mounted Patrol Foundation will also offer face painting and other fun, free crafts; and Wells Fargo will be giving free stagecoach rides from 1 to 4 p.m.

The Durham Museum, 801 South 10th Street
The Durham Museum invites you to experience the wonder this year during Christmas at Union Station – including Omaha’s largest indoor Christmas tree and an exceptional lineup of family-friendly events. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the wonderful temporary exhibitions on display including The American Soldier: A Photographic Tribute, Worn With Pride: Americans in Uniform, and Girls Scouts: 100 Years of Courage, Confidence and Character. Don’t miss out on the annual display of Ethnic Holiday Trees highlighting the holiday traditions of approximately one dozen cultures in the Omaha community. Enjoy listening to the Nova Strings Quartet at 1 p.m., and Girl Scout Service Unit Troop #406 at 3 p.m., all performing in front of the tree. Children can also meet Wells Fargo’s “Jack the Dog,” pan for gold, and participate in a scavenger hunt. Santa will be stopping by for a visit, too!

W. Dale Clark Library, 215 South 15th Street
Join in the celebration of the library’s 140th anniversary by viewing special collections including the famed scalp, Babylonian tablets and Trans-Mississippi photos. Library staff will be in period clothing celebrating OPL’s 1872 origins. Have your photo taken with the library’s mascot, Scamper the Prairie Dog, and make a frame to hold your photograph. Enjoy listening to the Resonance Quartet at noon, Duchesne Bell Choir at 1 p.m., Girl Scout Service Unit #406 at 2 p.m., and A Ring of Flutes at 3 p.m. Other activities include face painting, story times and more! Stop by the Wells Fargo activity area for cookie decorating and Swiss Miss hot cocoa courtesy of ConAgra Foods while listening to holiday music selections throughout the day.

Joslyn Art Museum, 2200 Dodge Street
Explore Joslyn Art Museum’s galleries including two special exhibitions Under Pressure: Contemporary Prints from the Collection of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation and A Journey Without End: Ed Young. Visit the art studios and experiment with two printmaking techniques to create your own works of art including Jell-O prints and Winter Edition greeting cards. Enjoy holiday musical favorites in the Atrium including Resonance Quartet performing at 1 p.m. and A Ring of Flutes at 2 p.m. Enjoy the Tuba Christmas Concert, a 40-piece brass ensemble, performing in the Witherspoon Hall at 2:30 p.m. Don’t miss the chance to watch Amazing Arthur, Professional Showoff perform magic at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., and get your own Wells Fargo playing cards and magic wand.

Ollie the Trolley will provide free trolley rides between locations. Have fun participating in holiday sing-alongs with the members of the UNO Chamber Choir and ACDA Collegiate Chapter during your travels!
